Knowing the Time

This is the year – so they say – 2023 AD. Not too many years ago, it became customary to write “CE” (for “Christian Era” or “Common Era”) instead of “AD” (for anno domini, which means “the year of our Lord”, referring to Jesus Christ, our Lord, the only begotten son of God, and God incarnate). They say that God has a son.

The temperature has climbed to 100 degrees in the winter in Argentina. It is over 115 degrees in Phoenix, Arizona. The forest fires in Canada are consuming an area as large as the entire nation of Cuba. Last year, an entire Canadian town caught fire and burned down. Major rivers are drying up. Mountaintops which should be ice-covered are barren, promising a dearth of water needed for people, animals, and plants in the spring. The insects are disappearing. (Have you noticed?) The oceans are polluted and so hot that the corals are dying. Microplastics are everywhere – in the polar ice, in the air, in the oceans all the way down to the depths where tiny creatures scrounging for food are ingesting microplastics instead. We dread the coming hurricanes, likely to be ever more destructive than ever.

Human society is collapsing. Innumerable refuges struggling to get to Europe and the United States – escaping the poverty imposed by the exploitative global economy, the criminal and political violence, and the ever-increasing climate catastrophe. Mental disorder and drug addiction are rampant in the United States. Mass murders are an almost daily occurrence. At least one of the major political parties cannot escape the grip of criminal and deranged leadership. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer at an accelerating pace. Millions are homeless, or on the verge of homelessness. The food is making us sick, and medical care is making us sicker and bankrupt.

The world is collapsing in devastation.

Do the Muslims know what time it is? The Muslims are calling this year “2023”. Is it? Is it “the year of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the son of God”? As long as the Muslims do this, they are in cahoots with those who attribute a son to Allah. When Europe was enthralled to this atrocious doctrine, their world was mired in unbelievable misery. They call it the “Dark Ages”. Just Europe. Not the whole world. Then, the Europeans burst out of Europe and spread this atrocious doctrine to every part of the world. And now the entire world is a mess.

Do the Muslims think they will be spared?

I am selling a hijri calendar. I am selling a hijri calendar so that Muslims will mount it on their walls and know what time it is. It is not 2023. It is 1445 – one thousand four hundred and forty-five years after Muhammad and his followers migrated to Madinah from persecution in Makkah. We are here today because of them.

Why are you here? For the money? For the comforts? None of this will be here, none of this will survive the preventable catastrophe. And what have the Muslims done? Sit on their self-righteous butts, while the world literally burns? The weight of your good deeds is too light. You will be consigned to the bottomless pit. (Qur’an 101:8-11) Even if you survive this preventable catastrophe – which you have done NOTHING to prevent. On the contrary, you are helping to bring it on – by using the wrong calendar.

What time is it? The year of the incarnated son of God, the year of a world in the throes of incineration? Or is this the year of hijrah, of Muslims who struggle to change the world, even if it means discomfort. It’s hot out there, but the fire of hell is hotter.
