The Clear, Magnificent, Wise, Majestic, Noble, Amazing, Arabic Qur’an

In the Spirit of the Gracious and Compassionate
Creator of the Heavens and the Earth

Allah has given us a clear, magnificent, wise, glorious, noble and amazing, Arabic Qur’an. The word “qara’a” – from which the word “qur’aan” (“Qur’an”) derives – refers to the act of reading and reciting. Not to one or the other, but to both. There is no English equivalent to the word “Qur’an”. “Qur’an” is “that which is to be read/recited”. Qur’aan can only be done in Arabic.

When we stand in salaah, we must read/recite the Qur’an, and only the Qur’an, this precious gift to all mankind, from Allah.

Allah, the Most High, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, Master of all that exists, describes his gift to us in many ways. In the pages of the Qur’an, you will find the following:

	Qur’an 15:1 Qur’an 36:69	وَقُرْءَانٍۢ مُّبِين		“and a clear Qur’an”
	Qur’an 15:87	وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ		“and a magnificent Qur’an”
	Qur’an 36:2	وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ		“and a wise Qur’an”
	Qur’an 50:1	وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ٱلْمَجِيدِ		“and the glorious Qur’an”
	Qur’an 85:21	قُرْءَانٌۭ مَّجِيدٌۭ		“a glorious Qur’an”
	Qur’an 56:77	لَقُرْءَانٌۭ كَرِيمٌۭ		“surely a noble Qur’an”
	Qur’an 12:2 Qur’an 20:113 Qur’an 39:28 Qur’an 41:3 Qur’an 42:7 Qur’an 43:3	قُرْءَٰنًا عَرَبِيًّۭا		“an Arabic Qur’an”
	Qur’an 72:1	قُرْءَانًا عَجَبًۭا		“an amazing Qur’an”

Allah also calls the Qur’an:

the Imam

the Light

the Guide

the Mercy

the Book

Allah never calls the Qur’an, “the Holy Qur’an”.
