futility

the America you believe in
the America you want to be a part of
never existed

your desire for white people to like you
your desire for white people to not be racist
is misplaced

you are not a race
you are a people

to dignify yourselves as a people
you must study and you must
look each other in the face and talk
and listen
and hear

this takes determination
and sincerity
and courage

otherwise
your generation
and the next generation
and the next
will die in delusional and useless
futility

chained to a false God
